TyLoo beat Tainted Minds to qualify for DreamHack Masters Marseille
TyLoo have booked their spot at DreamHack Masters Marseille after defeating Tainted Minds 2-1 in the grand final of the Asian closed qualifier.
The biggest surprise of this eight-team closed qualifier came in the early exit of MVP PK, who were recently in attendance at the StarSeries event, following a defeat to Eclipse in the first round, with BOOT-d[S], one of the two invitees, also failing to impress after losing to Tainted Minds in the semi-final.
The final kicked off on TYLOO's map pick, Cobblestone, with the Chinese side securing a near-flawless CT pistol. Tainted Minds responded with a successful force-buy, however, setting themselves up for a 4-1 lead after also winning the first gun round.
Nevertheless,HaoWen "somebody" Xu and co. then went on a massive run, picking up every remaining round of the half, and losing only their first gun round as Terrorists before closing out the map, 16-5.
TYLOO carried that momentum into their opponents' map pick, Cache, and won five straight rounds without much response, their fifth thanks to a 1v2 clutch from Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand. That was when Tainted Minds' defence came to life, with the Australians securing seven rounds in a row to bring the scoreline to 7-5. Still, the Chinese squad would switch sides in the driving seat following a three-round winning streak by the end of the first half.
Tainted Minds responded well to a second pistol loss and hit back in the following round. That successful eco ended up turning the game on its head, with the Australians eventually locking down the map, 16-12.
Next up was Inferno, and Tainted Minds got off to a flying start by stringing six rounds together. TYLOO would not back down, however, and managed to reduce the deficit to just three rounds by half-time.
The Australians had their eyes on the prize and quickly hit 14 rounds in the second half. However, with BnTeT stepping up to the plate, TYLOO won nine rounds a row to turn the game around and book their place in the next DreamHack Masters event.
